“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
When talking about money management it is easy to get caught up in the concept of maximization, essentially how do you get the most out of your money. Do you put in stocks? Bonds? Mutual funds? Which credit cards have the best interest rates? How do I begin paying back my student loans? Important questions? Yes very, but perhaps not always the right questions.
Money management like many things in life is largely about finding balance. In this case the balance is between earning and spending. However I posit that there is another way to look at money management- keeping and giving. If money management is one of your "worries" then count yourself blessed, because it means you have been given something to manage. Whether you see it this way or not, you are the steward of your own wealth, blessed to have an income and challenged to do something of value with it.
You cannot have a truly healthy grasp of money management without the consideration that some of your money should be given away to those with less.
